Lagos is infused with so much culture. It is fondly referred to as “Our Lagos, Your Lagos” because of how diverse the city is. So, each trip I take to Lagos, I love to get a henna tattoo which is a traditional tattoo typically used for ceremonies in different parts of the world and in Nigeria, the Northern area. I love the idea of it not being permanent and the fact that no one henna design is the exact same as the next. I love it!
I go to The Henna Place in Lekki and their service is top-notch. The henna tattooists are most likely of Fulani/Hausa descent which makes me feel like it is a more authentic experience. They too, usually have henna on their body parts – nails, fingers, hands, etc. If you’re looking for a place to get “white” henna, they do it also – a little more expensive and lasts for only a day.
My Henna tattoo lasted for about a week and I had no reaction to the dye.
