Oh gosh! I hate to write this but I’ll be honest, I have not been on here in a while because I did not feel like I was giving you all my absolute best. But I’m here now so let’s discuss skincare!
Today, I’m talking after-care of eyebrow waxing/threading!
Waxing and threading are both forms of hair removal, and as a lady it’s a beauty routine which is quite common. As much as we emphasize on getting our brows on “fleek,” the after-care is equally as important. Personally, I react when I wax or thread my eyebrows. I develop acne and it just spreads all over my forehead. Honestly, I would not wish it on my worst enemy LOL! It’s not the best experience.
Fortunately, I figured out what works for me and I have been following these tips for the past six years. I have decided to share them on here because I don’t think one needs to deal with this “extra” struggle in life! So, here they are:
STEP 1 – Wash your face with cold water as soon as you can post-threading/waxing
- The cold water closes your pores and calms it down pretty much. This is to prepare the skin for what is to come.
STEP 2 – Place a cold pack / ice on the area
- In my little bubble, ice is the solution to many of my problems but I’ll talk about this later! LOL. Basically, ice closes your pores too and calms it down as well. Your skin is more than likely inflamed at this point so your job is to calm it down.
STEP 3 – Apply witch hazel
- Using a cotton pad, apply witch hazel to the area. I use the Thayers Witch Hazel. I completely swear by it because its soothing, mild, cleansing and helps to close your pores as well.
STEP 4 & 7 DAYS AFTER
- Apply 1 % Hydrocortisone cream to the area only for the following 7 days. Hydrocortisone is a topical cream that’s available at any drug store. It’s a non-prescription drug and works by calming the inflammation that occurs during certain skin conditions and reactions. I did a lot of research on my own before I started using this product 6 years ago. I have not turned back since and I also haven’t gotten a flood of acne after threading or waxing ever since! It’s worked perfectly for me!
P.S. I literally cannot live without this product. It’s truly a must-have! I recommend this product for anyone. Also, getting the go-ahead from a doctor or pharmacist will be great but not necessary. I am by no means a dermatologist, this is all solely based on a ton of hours dedicated to doing research and knowing what my skin can and cannot take.
Please, make sure you’re using the 1% cream and nothing else!
Wishing you all a lifetime of eyebrow fleekiness! LOL 🙂
