South is yet another new restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos. I get so worried each time there is hype surrounding a particular place because, it could either be just a trend or really good! South as the name implies serves Southern food. So, think New Orleans/American food. I expected everything else but Southern. #weird!
I had visited earlier this week and they were closed for lunch which left a bad taste in my mouth but I decided to go in for a second try and I was pleasantly surprised with the service. I must say though, they ran out of chicken but I’ll give them a pass. I presume they didn’t expect to sell out so quickly and TBH, the herbed chicken is really affordable and seems appetizing so, I’m not shocked.
I settled for the Jambalaya and they were kind enough to charge me the price of the chicken I initially wanted. I say ‘kind enough’ because, typically Nigerians will not do that. So, they won me on that! They also served my friend and I their Dirty South Fries (₦2,500) on the house! It tasted so good! It was just right.
I’ve never had a Jambalaya (₦6,500) but I do know it’s a southern fave! I enjoyed it. It reminded me of jollof rice with a southern twist. Not even gunna front! LOL
The portion was reasonable and filled me up! Would I order it in the future? Most likely! 🙂
